Next Bride to be...

Inspired by this girl's myspace page.
I knew her when I was in elementary school... and it's funny.. i found her on myspace...
just thought a little too much about it, i guess....

So here's the sketch. this one's gonna be a painting... I'll end up posting the progress too, i suppose.
Maybe i'll even go back and post the rose girl's progress. i have a couple shots of that one, too.
Anyhow.

Here goes.

One more on the Barbie...

So here's painting number two in two weeks - This one I did in about 6 hrs over 3 days.
Trying to pick up the pace with the art stuff.
I'm applying to Grad school soon and figure that I should learn how to paint again.
We'll see how that goes...

without further ado:

Battle Scars and Crappy Paintings

Alright Adam,
touche!

-for those of you not in the know adam are battling it out art style- with art vs art.
here is a one night painting I did after I told him we should both do some art.

it's weird looking, but finished. I"m in the process of re-teaching myself how to paint.
The next one is better...

Oh! You Vixen, You!

Oh Tracy Walentine... You're looking better every minute!
So here's my progress.

I'm not really in love with tracy walentine. (by the way)
But you've gotta admit she's a looker!

She's not done yet, but she's gettin' close.

I Heart Tracy Walentine

So here's the inked version. Inked in illustrator.
The next step's gonna be the color.

You can see for a split second I thought about making her a blonde....

we'll see how far that thought goes.

One more view...

Okay, so I was a little lazy before...
Here are the digital files of my bird cards.
It's a little bit better view of what they look like - but not quite real-life yet. (the real ones are printed on kraft paper)
I've finally gotten a moment to myself!

whew!

ALRIGHT ... HERE THEY ARE!

bird card number one!

I'm working on a two card set and packageing for a show.

Chris and Adam and I are furiously trying to put two cards together, plus the box to each make an awesome stationery statement.

I have been absent, but not totally gone...

Here are the most recent additions to the stationery section at Drawlgraphic.
These babies were unveiled at the Renegade Craft Fair in Brooklyn this past weekend!

There were three cards in total that made it, here are two...

This is one that I did in about 5 minutes after waking up one morning with an image in my brain.
I think that it could use a little something, but for now, version #1 ended up accompanying chris and I to the craft fair!
Bird silhouette with stripes.

And here is the second...

Actually, this one came to me while I was working on a project for a target pitch at work---
It's hard when you come up with some awesome ideas and then would rather keep them to yourself than to give them to your place of employment...
without further ado :

This one was by FAR the hit of all my cards. too bad I only brought a handful!

I haven't been slackin' by the way with art...
I just haven't been able to get my crap together and scan some new things!
I'll keep you posted, I just did a drawing last night of a bird that I'm really excited to show you...
Be on the look-out.

Bunny Suit

Alright-- here is another collaborative piece by me and chris.
I drew and inked this one, and chris and I colored it!
hooray!

this one's headed straight for the black and white book!

which---- i should really explain... but I will do that on the main drawlgraphic news soon.
woo!

brainchild of CHRINDSAY

Look at this collaborative piece -- done by Chris and I!
I'm thinking this is going to end up on the cover of the b&w book in some form or another!

here's how it looked as Chris's sketch, then i inked it and we colored it!
Yeah for kickin the pants!
woo!

notice that I gave his arms a shave.... ... .. and his treasure trail... .. ..

Applique madness!

go me!
it has been a super productive weekend.
I designed 2 shirts and a bag already!
I'm planning a trip over to design collective tomorrow to bring them some of my new goods. :)
here they are!
Chris and I are taking better pics for the online store tomorrow-- but you get the sneak preview!

here's the finished bag, my new green "birds with beads" shirt, and here is my "pink bird with banner" shirt!

i'm proud of myself! being sick has either done something wonderful with my brain to make me get on it --- or somethin'...
it's 2:59! time for bed!!!

Friday, March 24, 2006

like a faucet, but i'm still goin' strong.

alright. i have the nastiest cold ever.
and it's 1:43am. i should be sleeping by now, but i just got too excited about making things tonight.
after a long week it seemed like the best thing I could do (besides uncontrollably snot all over myself)was to sew up some things for the upcoming craft shows. I know it's a while away, but after drawing and painting for a month or so, it was time to do something crafty.

so i made some totes.

hooray!

they're still in progress, but tonight i made 3 bags-- one doesn't have handles yet because i ran out of thread--- but i'm really excited about how they're going. they have a fancy applique on them and are on hunter's canvas.
-- a perfect background for some fancy birds if I do say so myself.

so, more to come, I am adding a little light blue sparrow or something that is flying in the same direction as this bigger bird. only half the size and light blue-- and then some fancy stitching!

I think this might be a good design for another teeshirt, so I might just go ahead and whip up 12 of these tomorrow, too for the hell of it.

yay!!!

straw guy!

here is a sketch for another drawing.
i dont know what to do with it yet, but i'm thinkin' about it...

Friday, March 17, 2006

Kissy Face #2!

alright! here it is!
progress shot #2 of my kissy face drawing!
there's something up with the lack of black on this guy's shirt, but I will resolve it soon.
I think I need to add some black behind him or something and a design on his shirt.

overall. i'm happy with it.
but it'll be better!!! watch for the update!
kiss!

Black & White Num2

okay. you know when you do something totally awesome, and then you try and repeat it?
and then suddenly all your talent leaves and you are stuck erasing the same thing over... and over... and over....

yeah. that's what this was.
i think i have this resevoir of art all lying in wait, and it slowly accumulates over time... so if i spend it all in one day, it takes a week to re-fill.

so here is the start...
and i'm about to ink this bad boy....
