Needed a mental break tonight.

Wow. It's not a self portrait, but it sure looks like what I feel like. I have a to-do list that is way too long and totally self imposed. That's what you get, right? I mean, that's what I get.

Even after I went to the gym tonight, all I could think about was sitting down and massaging a painter piece to death. It's not the best thing I've ever made, but zoning out for a second and just listening to music while I add all the colors was everything I could have asked for.

Check it out. I made another painting in the style of Field Boy.
This one is was painted for a good friend.
It's acrylic on Hot press watercolor paper (which is a new paper to work with for me)!
I think it turned out pretty well!

Maybe I can fit another painting into my schedule some day.
I'm looking forward to a week where I can stay home and crank some art out.

I did it! I'm so excited! I finally got to finish this painting I stared a couple months ago. It wasn't so hard once I made some time for it. I think all in all, its about a 30 hour painting. It seems that it's rare that I get a whole night to work on something - but thanks to good friends and great company, a bunch of us got together over the weekend and had an inspiring couple of art nights. Jesse Riggle, Chris, Francesca, Adam worked on some art with us, while we had some company from Alyssa, her friend from out of town, and Bryan. :) I have so many ideas for new paintings now, but at least I can say I have officially checked this one off my list. This was a really fun new way of working for me... Looking forward to making some more!

Yes, it's 1 something (in the A.M) and I'm getting ready for class tomorrow.
We're on our second week for Photoshop and I'm excited to share some techniques with my students tomorrow. As always, it's nice to brush up a little bit before you get up there and have to explain everything, so I made this weird walleyed, bloody boy for a demo tomorrow. I'm excited to try him out in class.
We'll all be coloring some nice greyscale drawings. Here's to a good class!

New Painting - with a new method

So I stared this painting on Saturday with vigor and gusto - and got a huge chunk of it done. I'm working in acrylic, with a masking technique - on an 18" x 24" clayboard. All of which is semi-new, and really fun. I've gotten pretty good at making all sorts of shapes with artists tape over the weekend and wanted to show my process so far. I hope to finish this soon. I'm super excited to get a body of new work together... and maybe, just maybe, use it to apply for something special.

This long weekend was awesome. I got tons of stuff done -- started a painting, drew in my huge sketchbook, made some food (congratulate me - that is hard to do!) and caught up on some daily patterns for Paper Bicycle's Daily Pattern Project

I just made one I'm super proud of. For some reason I was having a blast. Maybe it's the mice. Anyway, here's a bit of my process for making this pattern:

and then photoshopped all of them together.
I have some custom brushes that are awesome that I did all the linework with.
It didn't take that long, either! I think the hardest part was trying to come up with the repeat! Woo!

Daydreaming about Iceland's landscape

I spent the day thinking about Iceland again. I found a residency that looks phenomenal. I am seriously considering applying for a month over there. I have no idea how I'd make that work - with work. Still, it's in the back of my mind. I start teaching Digital Illustration tomorrow and I'm totally excited. Here's a quick painting I did tonight. Not sure why it's purple, but why not.

I'm having a great time doing the Daily Pattern project and am very proud of a lot of these! It's been interesting so far - I'm getting faster and it feels like it's only been tough to think of something a couple of times! The hard part is - if you don't do your pattern early in the day, all the good versions of that topic are taken, and you have to think really hard about how you're going to make a pattern that hasn't been done yet! I'm trying to get as much done as possible this week because I'm off to New Jersey on Wednesday to meet with an awesome client and THEN I'm headed to Portland for Erin Loechner's Ace Camp!
I am so excited!

Updatey Update

Wow, this week has been insane!
I am so excited. We're making patterns like crazy in our free-time, and getting things done! I've been having stair-master battles with Chris and eating a lot of spongey fake hotdogs this week (strange flavor and strange texture). I've also started teaching my two classes at MCAD! The trend blogging class is righteous and my digital pattern design class is full. Everyone is super nice and I am so excited to see what they'll do over the next 6 weeks!

Besides that, awesome news! I was featured on Betty Magazine's Blog!

I am so psyched!!!

We were also featured on Zupi. com, which was SO SO awesome!!

Alyssa Nassner's pattern is first on the list of patterns. She is super talented!!
Chris, Francesca, Mary and I are all in that post, too!

Ah, to be in Paris...

I've been meaning to head to paris for the last couple of years.
After the loads of complements from my sister, mother and father, I've been meaning to make it there someday. I hear the food is great, the atmosphere is amazing, and maybe this is a chance I can finally go there!

Oh Happy Day is giving away a 7 day trip to Paris!

Daily Pattern - Gym Class

Landscape Studies Inspired by Iceland

I was inspired by a couple of things lately - My students are making some amazing landscape/backdrops for their final assignments in Digital Illustration, and Icelandic Space. They're doing a backdrop for a trio of scenes based on either a fairytale or a cultural event from a specific time period. I was blown away by the backgrounds they brought into class on Friday and was excited to try some painter studies myself. I did a series of four 10 minute studies based on Iceland. I'd love to go back some day... this is as close as I can get for now. Maybe I'll make some full fledged paintings based on these some day.

At least it's good practice for one of the topics I've always avoided (backgrounds).

I did an acrylic demo for my Illustration 1 class on Thursday which was a brief intro to painting. I decided it would be fun to finish it up later that night and am really happy that I did.

It's been a long time since I worked with actual paint (it seems) - for something that was not for work. So here it is! I am hoping this summer I get to spend more than a couple hours on some paintings that are bigger than a couple inches! This guy is only about 6 x 6" - and with just a couple weird tubes of paint I had lying around.

I always wanted a pug - but then fell in love with our weird pug-rat terrier mix!
Mutts are really the best, but I'll always have a place in my heart for these guys!

Today was insane. I contributed way too much money I didn't have to my retirement for 2010's stupid taxes, taught a class and then went home exhausted. I've got good company tonight as I make some 10 minute art and I am excited for the remaining two weeks of the semester to happen! My students are doing amazing things and I am psyched to see them through!

I think I'll finally have some time to relax in May - I am looking forward to it, though I am trying to hang on to my brain in the meantime!

This week was LONG. I finished up a million things, had some super long nights with everyone at Paper Bicycle - and a lot of teaching this week.
I feel accomplished, but worn out. It's funny though, I came home from having dinner tonight with some great friends, determined to get some personal art done and determined to relax.

Darklands - Relive the glory days

Back when I was in 7th Grade we got a computer.
The first huge computer game I ever bought was called Darklands.
I used to sit in front of the computer, day after day, playing this amazing, hard, epic game. This was before games gave you a "journal" to keep track of your quests. This was back when everything was on a 5.25" floppy disc, and this was when I was first becoming computer literate.

Needless to say, Darklands was a HUGE part of my childhood. I bought an old copy on CD in 2000 off of Ebay and hadn't been able to run the game until recently, when on a whim, I bought a PC, installed DOSBOX and got the darn thing to work. The sound doesn't function, but the rest of the game is amazingly intact. Bugs, copyright protection and all.

Chris, Francesca and I are doing some Friday night art tonight - all to celebrate the amazing characters from my very favorite game of all time.
I took one for the team and did a portrait of Ebhard, the fat, old priest that uses a Flail the whole game. Anyone that had ever played it might recognize the font, maybe the bandits, but most certainly the blood stain that was left after killing some dudes.

I still remember the sound it makes when someone dies.
Those were the days!

Super Strange Night.

So - today was insane. Besides teaching my students patterns, talking about hand-type and trend boards I had a ton of work to do... AND I went out to dinner tonight with Gary Baseman.

He's in town for a lecture tomorrow at MCAD, which is awesome! He's super nice and is really passionate about his work. It was really nice talking with him!

Besides all that, I got a call from Atom tonight asking if I wanted to go shoot guns with him tomorrow for his birthday (Which is awesome) - and I snuck a little painter-painting in tonight for the sake of brushing up before class tomorrow.
I have to tell you, I've been so swamped with everything lately that it's SO nice just to put my headphones on for a second, put the jams on and paint something for 2 hours.

So here you have it - late night practice for the sake of personal art. ;)
No, it's not me - it's some other girl with headphones on.
Maybe I'll go back and fix a couple things in here some day ( probably not ) - I'm not thrilled with her headphones because you can tell I didn't use any reference because I was too lazy to take mine off my head to look, and It's getting too late for me to continue tonight. Maybe some other day!

Also I've had the same three songs on repeat all night. That's how I do. - time to dream the new Britney album all night.

Dance Central Birthday Time!

Oh man, today was awesome!
Besides having a birthday, I got to decorate cakes, hang out with my very best friends, eat Chris & Robs hotdogs, AAAANNNNDDD play Dance Central!

Chris bought me a kinect for my birthday AND dance central and he and I and a bunch of great friends danced around like crazies all night! I am super surprised at how challenging it is! It was awesome! At a couple points during the night, we had three people dancing away for each song. SO FUN.

So, I felt like making another post and why not - I had an awesome time thanks to all of my amazing friends tonight. Party time! Excellent!

Friday Night Challenge - Another Sleeping Girl

It's now technically Saturday. Also, my birthday!
I got home from teaching my last class before spring break tonight and had quite a few things to catch up on. I made some calls, did a little bit of editing of the ARTCRANK poster image that we're working on for the show in April, and then ran some errands.

It felt like some personal art was in order, so I busted out some quick painter action (Again) and made some sleepy art.

I am not sure what my deal is (possibly living vicariously through my subject matter?) with the sleeping girls lately, but it seems comforting.
I am looking forward to a slower paced spring break and a nap or two.

Gouache painting - Friday Night Challenge

Friday night was a great night. I got done with class a little bit early and headed to Moto-i with Francesca and Chris. It's the first weekend in a long while that I wasn't swamped with work, and Francesca and I sat down for a 2 hour challenge. Originally, we had planned to finish a piece of art in two hours, but as things started going, I changed my idea from inking a drawing of this sleeping girl - to painting her in gouache.

As the night wore on, I went over the 2 hour limit and painted for almost three hours on her skin. Gouache is one of those mediums that if you don't mix enough, you're screwed. I had to paint over her skin a second time, since I hadn't done it right to begin with. Also - once you start, you can't stop.

Eventually I called it a night around 11pm and headed home with Chris to play some Marvel vs. Capcom for a sec. :) I am excited to pick this back up and finish this painting once I get another couple hours of free time!

Drawing in Class

My Illustration one class on Thursday was a ton of fun. For about 20 minutes we sat in a circle and sketched each other for a character development project. I was up late last night taking pictures of some of the stuff we did and thought I'd throw this one on the blog!

Everyone had some really fun sketches and we then took turns trying to do one minute captures of some weird faces we were making. I was laughing the whole time - seeing them try and make faces and draw each other at the same time was awesome.
I should do that more. :)

Since I was part of the circle for the first group, I figured I'd pick up my pencil and sketch them, too!

Guess Who? Blue Man Painting

You'll never guess who this painting started out as...
I am HORRIBLE at making likenesses of celebrities! There was a point tonight when I was referencing picture after picture and I ended up with a painting of a man that is WAY different (in many ways) than the blue man you see here.

There is no way you'll ever guess who this was at the beginning of my painting...
Anyone want to guess?

I'll buy you a tea if you figure it out.

Painted tonight in Painter 11 with about 1 hour of real painting, and 1 hour of trying to figure out how to make this look like the guy I started to draw in the first place.

I guess it ended up looking like a cross between Lawrence Fishburne and O.J. Simpson.

Oh man, I haven't done a self portrait in forever and I think it shows...
Here's a painter painting I did tonight for the sake of doing personal art in my free time. It's definitely not the most awesome thing I've ever done. Then again, It's better than some of my MCAD self portaits (It's probably been that long).

Also, I've been grilling my students left and right about making sure that when they use color that they use the "Squint" rule. Squint your eyes to see value so you know you're doing it right. Just because colors are on your art doesn't mean that it works with value. So - with this, I just wanted to check myself before I wrecked myself. (OH SNAP!)

I suppose that's pretty good! My face hurts from squinting for three hours.

Abraham - the Upright Gorilla

This weekend I saw a video of Abraham the Gorilla. I guess he learned to walk upright on his hind legs, just like we do. After being totally enthralled with the idea that all gorillas could potentially do that, I watched this 5 part documentary from the BBC on Youtube.

I had a couple hours after class tonight to do something fun - so I opened painter and made a quick-quick painting.

Man, I love science. I love animals. And I love learning about all of this stuff.

Life on the Internet with Emo Hair

I spent about 45 minutes wandering aimlessly around the internet today - and, when I was through with the obligatory searches for "awful plastic surgery," I started clicking around on hair websites/ groups.

Here's a piece I did inspired by the millions of crazy emo girl haircuts I saw tonight.
I figured since I was snowed in that I should be doing some personal art.

OK!
SO - things besides the normal things (what?) are happening in art- life.

Two things :

1. I often complain to myself about the fact that it's too bad that I work in a field where I can't post things until they're manufactured and in the stores. - so It seems like I might not do anything all day....

and

2. I even have personal projects that I can't show yet because I will jinx myself! WAAAH!

On that note, I wanted to TELL you about this thing!
Chris is in San Francisco right now preparing for a pitch to Chronicle Books (Best publisher ever). We've got a book idea and I stayed up until 3 am prepping at Kinkos for, like, EVER.

The guy at kinkos was really nice, but somehow I got into a conversation with him about this Gundam robot that they made in Japan and that he just so happened to have pics of on his phone.... What? Yes.

Anyway, So - tomorrow from 3 - 5, Chris will be standing and waiting his turn in line to pitch out concept - face to face - with an Editor of Chronicle Books.
Cross your fingers for him! I really believe in our idea and we did a bunch of work to prep for it! :)

Anyway, when it's all said and done with, I'll post some images of what we worked on!

Cat - Delightful!

I quick did the leaves on the bottom and got rid of that sprig floating above his head!
I owe this piece of art to John from my tools of the trade class - for a show at Cause this week. I hope that I can get it to him in time!

Francesca was super nice and helped me frame it tonight, so it's all ready!
I should really do more painter/paintings!

It was a lot of fun and I'm sure I'll probably go back and add some details when I don't have a splitting headache. But for now - I'm happy!

Thanksgiving is almost here and Chris and I are headed out to visit Ryan in Columbus OH.
I'm interested to see how the bubble tea tastes over there, and I'm happy to get out of this painful Minnesota frigid icy weather for a second.

Things are the studio have been cool - We're working on some amazing projects right now for Target, a waterbottle company, and a stationery company - which is super awesome!

Here's a peek at some of the bits I've been developing (in preliminary sketch form)
for one of our big projects. It's a little bit of this, and a little bit of that...
mostly assets for a big piece of print & pattern I was working on, but a fun project nonetheless.

I hope to finish that cat painting soon and hopefully get it over to John C. for a show at Cause on the 3rd! My Wacom tablet broke and I sent it to vancouver today in hopes that it'll be fixed by the time I get back from vacation!

More Oliver Painting

I did a little bit of painting on this weird painter piece of art I'm doing!
This time, he's floating around in a pile of blobby leaves!
Not sure what is going on, but who cares!
It's just great to be painting in painter!
Hopefully I can keep the atmospheric softness to some of these elements.
That's the part I really like right now, even though most of that softness was happening in the underpainting.

Happy Halloween!!

Over the past week, Chris and I have been working diligently on Sharpie-ing the crap out of these outfits! We went out with a couple friends last night to a Party and then went dancing. We were ready for noone in the world to know who we were and were super excited that the people that did recognize us were like

"YEAH BOIIIIIIIIII I LOVE YOU GUYS!!!!!"

And then everyone else just thought Chris was Vanilla Ice - and that I was some weird tagalong strange short blonde girl version or something. Confusing for the rest of the world, really.

It was a pretty awesome night and it was nice and warm wearing full sweat suits in the 39 degree weather! It was totally worth it!

Rock Band 3 & We're on TV

We're on TV this week on the DIY network! We did a shoot for a new show called "I hate my kitchen" and they've titled out show "Wild Side". HA! If you want to catch me and Chris being goofy on TV, it's on a couple times tomorrow (the 27th, and one more time in the early morning on the 30th!) We're hoping some awesome person records it for us. We don't have cable, and are really hoping for it to show up online!

Also - we got Rock Band 3 and made some characters tonight. Here we are - Plus, guess who leads up our fake band? Sweet Sweet Ryan Michlitch. This one's for you, buddy.

Adam is over here right now working on his new website!
While that is going on, all the cats are running about and accosting us. I had some fantastic cherry apple crisp and we're waiting for some dominoes to show up!
All this and I did a little more on this painting of Oliver.

He keeps quoting the olsen twins "i want pizza" and it is driving me nuts.

The last time he came over he repeated the whole "flea market montgomery mini mall" sensation... I'd rather have that, I think.

EDIT:

I was messing around with painter tonight while we were watching the office on netflix.
I was inspired by all the 60s-70s stationery I got in the mail as well as all this talk about painter lately. I drew a piece of my cat Oliver. Maybe I'll go back and make more sprigs of stuff around him so there isn't just one weird leafy thing shooting out of his head! Or add some whiskers and fix the rest of him...

Also - His head is not this big in real life.

A couple weeks ago I started this painting based on some mushrooms I had seen in a fantastic gouache book I purchased in Iceland.

Although my original intention was to bust out the acrylics with this one, I actually might digitally paint it.
Here are the preliminary sketches and some really super fast color studies in photoshop.
I might go into painter and paint this one and see what happens.

Here's a sketch from last week - I made it while hanging out with Francesca at infinitea.
It seems that this year has been so chock-full of adventure that I have all but forgotten to keep up my personal work.

These days I'm sitting around dreaming of making a small perfect bound book with Chris about our trip to Iceland. We took a million and one photos of the crazy things we saw - and I've even gone and purchased a book on icelandic sagas. Just for the purpose of getting more into it.

It's such a dreamy - weird place, that I can't help but wish I could go back.
Maybe when this personal book-project is underway, I'll feel like I'm back there again.

Besides being Monday,
Today was actually a very special day.

Today was Chris's first day at the Paper Bicycle office!
We are officially an office of 3 full-timers and two fantastic interns!

I suppose Chris might be posting the same picture on his blog, but
I am a flickr-stream usurper. (I credit Adam Hoppus for that word being in my vocabulary)

Besides the fact that Chris looks pretty....pretty in this picture, you can see a small sliver of the new office in there. Actually, it's a pretty big sliver, because his head is so tiny!

Although he was only there for half a day - and although Francesca is stuck in Seattle, and although I'm sporting a run-like-a-faucet head cold today, it was a celebratory occasion.

Yeah Chris! Welcome!!!

New Studio & A List of Things We Do.

It's funny, I might as well just turn this blog into a lindsay's crafts-r-us and random posting about what I can't show to you. The thing is, I realize how much work I actually do each day and then I get to lament about how it's all top secret.

I guess there are worse things than having a lot of work to do and not being able to show any of it.

Well, Here's another semi-non-art update.

We've officially moved into a really fantastic new studio!

We're on the Corner of Lake & Lyndale in Uptown! Totally awesome!
We've barely moved in - all the guts are there, but it is still in need of some fun personal touches and a new coat of paint.
Francesca and I spent a couple weeks working there, which was a great upgrade from our coffee-house excursions. We were both dreaming of a time when we'd get to go to a coffee house to have fun, rather than going there to work on things...

With our name on the building directory, it feels pretty darn official.

I'll post some better pics soon!

Besides the big move, We've been working our butts off lately (summer is always our busy season)

Here are some of the fun things we've done lately

- A slew of Bedding & Room Decor Collections for Kids/Tweens
- Massive doses of Candy Packaging (almost an entire years worth of candy)

WHEW.

So what the heck! I haven't updated in a long time and just felt like I might as well at least describe what life's been like over the last month or so.
Everything over the last month has been slowly coming to completion over the last week.
Class ended today for the semester - and all I have left is the residual grading,
Our Tv show that we've been filming over the last 5 weeks is ending tomorrow - which is crazy...

We've been filming a show for the DIY network - called "I hate my kitchen" which will air sometime this fall (details to follow).
Francesca and I have been working like mad this last month to get everything under control with Paper Bicycle, and we're off to a tradeshow on Sunday to kick some butts in New York.

I had this great - no - amazing night tonight, where I had this sort of content, but bittersweet moment after class. I got a chance to spend the evening with all sorts of people I really like and admire, and when it was over, I felt a strange sad and happy feeling.

I guess it's probably just my body telling me that I'm on to the next chunk of life. I think it's funny that my time is parceled by semester still - but each time I finish one, I feel like I've accomplished something and that I'm a little older.
I'm not sure what that means, but it makes sense when I say it.

Anyway, that's what's going on. I figure that it's worth me posting about somewhere. I suppose I'd rather post these random thoughts here than my facebook page! Tomorrow is gonna be a doozy.

I got a book in the mail called Funny Bunny. it's an old big golden book.
it made me want to sketch/paint a funny cat. here is olivia.
i made this tonight for fun.
she has no limbs, except for one foot. HAAHAHHAA

and even earlier than that, I sat around at the tea garden and drew this.

it is a crappy photo, but it was fun to draw. it was originally going to be pieces of a wallpaper I was going to turn in for a contest tomorrow. I am not sure it is contest material quality, but maybe i'll do something with it tomorrow.

i made stuff today and yesterday. here it all is!
stockings for christmas!
one for me, one for chris, one for two dogs, one for five cats, one for dean and one for fish.
I think I am getting the pink flowery one, chris is going to have the spotty one, dogs, the orange one, cats the green and yellow one, and pink - dean, and blue for fish.

i should have posted a reference pic, chris says they are huge (except the little pink and blue ones) They are bigger than a yellow pages, and about as long as my fingers to elbow.
that is so we can put lots of fun things in them!

With too much time to spare.
So I am here for one day just waiting to get back on the plane to mpls. I had a good time today.
I spent it with one of my clients - who is the best wheeler-dealer hustler I know. This guy got us into 750.00 worth of tradeshows for free. There were times when i was like. "whoa" but there were other times i was like "WHOA!"

in the positives and the negatives! all the way!
It was great though - we went to pool and magic and then finally projects. - all of which were really cool shows. I really liked projects the best. it was like a dream come true.
I didn't take any pics of the tradeshow when I was there because of the restrictions on cameras, but did manage to take a picture of the airport. this is what it looks like behind me right now.

as you can see- i look like crap and am confused by the sea of slot machines.
i guess if i needed to quick get some gambling in before i went home, now would be the time.
only t-minus 2 hrs before i get on my flight home....

I've started a free-time painting and have been picking away at it over about a week so far... now and again, but in between my work stuff.
It's still in the ugly stages before it really looks like anything, but I had fun making a weird gif. I'm hoping to finish this over the next week so I can see it when it doesn't look like blobs!

I spent most of Tuesday night working on some things for the wedding.
I don't want to give all the surprises away... but I guess I can show you just one...
After much thought and some consideration on pricing, I ended up printing my invites somewhere else and without doing the crazy tri-fold thing.
I am actually totally psyched about how they're turning out and am hoping for the best when I finally see the color!

Here is a sneak peek for some fun things that are on the DIY agenda...

Cold Days on Lake Superior

I've been trying to make something every day and over the last couple days. I guess I've done a couple things... We went to a friend's really pretty wedding at the Lutsen Resort on the North Shore of Lake Superior where I took a bunch of photos. Now, I am not a fantastic picture taker, but there is one that I think is really striking. I was not drawing over the weekend, just photo taking!

I forgot to post this for my Monday art.
I have been trying to be better about posting what I'm doing.
Here is a pattern I did to round out the butterfly group - it's in addition to the ones I made on Sunday! I've got a mini placed graphic there and a simple wavy stripe.
I like the colors on this one. Very preppy!

Cup Paper Banner Project - Process

I Started a project on Friday the 24th - A bunch of friends were at the studio with me working on various projects - and (for some reason) earlier that day I bought an 11 dollar huge roll of red paper.
Here are a couple pics of what I'm doing with it so far.
The end result will soon look like a giant doily!

I haven't done some personal art in a while and it felt really good.
The end thing will be about 20" x 30" and a bright cherry red!
When it hangs on the wall it'll look really neat with the shadows behind it!

New Kitties

I made a quick AI drawing of our new kitty, Jade!
We got her a couple weeks ago and she's adjusted to our zoo quite well!
She's about 6 lbs and really cuddly!
Her eyes don't look like normal roundy cat eyes, only half-open eyeballs for her!

EDIT: I ended up fixing her up a bit this morning because when I woke up she looked really weird!

Here is a mini preview of some work I did tonight for a client.
We're doing a pitch to a certain large retailer for easter.
so tonight i'm sitting here drawing fast and furiously -
making bunnies in the theme of "fast and furriest"...

uh....

ANYWAY - if they don't go for that title, maybe they'll go for "fuzzy bunny"
which is option B.
Either way these bunnies will be covered in flocking - and will hopefully be rolled out into a giant packaging program.

today i finished that gouache painting i started a long time ago - i rushed a little, but it doesn't matter. what matters is that i finished it.
i spent a couple hours painting tonight while chris crammer and chris played the little big planet beta - (which is fun, by the way)

as soon as I finished the "feel" painting, i did a little cutie girl for chris crammer (and am a dummy because i didn't scan it!!!) but trust me, it was cute!
maybe i will ask him to scan it for me (hint hint?)

and since i was on a roll, i finally got around to painting francesca a tiny painting of her boyfriend, leon. i will have to give it to her the next time i see her... but until then, i suppose i might be ruining the surprise. (surprise! ;P )

i have two birdie paintings (acrylic) that are small and i started them a while ago.... i should finish those up tomorrow so i can keep on a roll.

Kids tees for you and for meeees

I've got this new client whose main business is kids teeshirts. Tween Girls tees.
I am really proud of myself because I just finished a giant batch of 12 for these guys & went in for the meeting today. Overall, I'm excited! They're pretty good for only having worked an hour-to-three on each! (which was the budget)

So the meeting went well and they're taking all but one of them. ...
and sadly, it happened to be my favorite. I was actually sitting there hoping they'd make a sample of it and give it to me, i liked it so much.
I really like the seagull one (that was the only one that didn't make the cut & my favorite!!)

I think these are small enough I won't get in troubles showing them...
Makes me wish I was small enough to fit in the shirts they're making!

As Many of my friends know, I look at a Body Mod Blog pretty regularly.
They're currently going through legal battles about the authenticity of their site and need some help. I'm posting a link for a couple reasons, but the art related reason is that there are a LOT of really great (and a lot of really bad, or really confusing) pieces of tattoo art on there.

Trying Painter

Okay - so Chris Crammer makes awesome stuff in painter and I am jealous of his skills.
I tried painter for the first time today and this is what happened.
Now, don't judge me- because I had a weird sketch to begin with, but I found out how to use a wacom tablet today as well as a couple brushes in the program.
I think I get how it works! Maybe one of these days I'll do something besides mess around. It could be awesome!!!

Here's some progress shots and the "final" (don't worry, i can take "sleez-mo" off of it. It's on another layer.
